Aladdin

New Wimbledon Theatre and First Family Entertainment are thrilled to announce the biggest line-up in pantomime history for this year’s Christmas spectacular Aladdin at New Wimbledon Theatre, London.

Anita Dobson is the latest star to join Ruby Wax, Pamela Anderson and Paul O’Grady in sharing the role of the Genie of the Lamp in the forthcoming pantomime spectacular Aladdin – the pantomime that everyone is talking about!

Perhaps best-known for her role as the tempestuous Angie Watts, the first ever landlady of the Queen Vic Pub in Walford on BBC's Eastenders in the 1980's, Anita Dobson has gone on to work across television in the UK in various programmes including Casualty, Holby City and Hotel Babylon. She is also no stranger to the stage having performed in the title role in the recent UK tour of Hello, Dolly! and in the West End in Chicago, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Hamlet and Three Sisters at the Royal Court. Anita was most-recently seen baring all in Calendar Girls, the West End stage incarnation of the film of the same name.

Anita Dobson will appear in the role from Monday 28 December until Sunday 3 January 2010

Renowned broadcaster and irrepressible comedienne Ruby Wax will be the first to guest star as the Genie of the Lamp.

Originally best known for her role as CJ Parker in Baywatch, now a mother, an activist, an entrepreneur and still one of the most photographed and internet-searched women in the world, Pamela Anderson will be playing the role of the Genie of the Lamp for two weeks only. Bringing a whole new take on the same role will be comedian and chat show host king Paul O'Grady who will be playing the role in the New Year, in a triumphant return to Pantoland having not appeared in one since 2005.

In a change to usual tradition, and in what New Wimbledon Theatre believes to be a first in Pantomime history, the role of the Genie of the Lamp will be played by four celebrity guest stars. They will be supported by a core cast which is headed by renowned actor, author and adventurer Brian Blessed who will be doing all he can to stop their magical intentions by playing the evil Abanazar – the ultimate villain determined to outsmart our hero.
